Summer Plein Air

Is it that oil feels more like a winter thing and the watercolours want to come out for the summer? It’s feeling a bit like that. I’ve been fortunate enough to be spending time in some beautiful gardens recently, I’ve been getting up early and photographing, drawing and staring intensely at flowers to try and understand their form. And trying new materials like gouche and acrylic inks for the first time to get some really strong pigment going. Learning quickly that you need a good hat, snacks and something to sit on! Heading to Ireland soon to see what that reveals..
